How do you make a free AI video with Bing?
A step-by-step path to turning a text prompt into a 5-second vertical clip with Microsoft's Bing Video Creator.

Short answer
Open the Bing mobile app, pick Video Creator from the menu or type "Create a video of..." into the search bar. Describe the scene you want in detail and start the generation. The result is a 5-second clip in 9:16 vertical format; once the notification arrives you can download it or share it as a link. It is free and no ChatGPT subscription is required.
What you need
Step by step
Open the Bing app
Install the Bing mobile app on your phone and sign in with your Microsoft account. The tool is mobile-only at launch; desktop access through the Bing Create site and Copilot Search is planned for later.
Enter Video Creator
Tap Video Creator in the bottom menu. As a shortcut, you can also type "Create a video of..." in the search bar and add your scene after it, which drops you straight into the tool.
Write the scene in detail
Describe what you want to see along with camera angle, lighting, character details and art style. Use verbs that convey motion. The clearer and more visual your description, the closer the result lands to what you had in mind.
Steer the tone
Add style phrases such as "cinematic look" or "animated cartoon style" to the end of your prompt to guide the mood. Ask for a single scene and avoid cramming too many events into five seconds.
Start the render and wait
Tap Create and wait for the notification. Up to three videos can sit in the queue at once, but you need one to finish before submitting a new request. Your first 10 generations run in fast mode.
Download or share the video
You get a notification when the clip is ready. From there you can save it to your device, share it by email or social media, or copy a direct link. Videos stay in your account for 90 days.
Choose a mode after fast runs end
Once the 10 fast generations are used up, you can switch to standard speed or spend Microsoft Rewards points to stay in fast mode. Standard speed is free, it simply takes longer.
Tips
Watch out
The tool uses Sora's content filters, so requests for harmful or copyrighted material are blocked and you receive a warning. Every generated video carries a C2PA content credential, meaning the metadata reveals the file was made by AI. Presenting such a clip as real footage breaks platform rules and damages trust.
Frequently asked questions

Yes. The tool rolled out worldwide, with China and Russia excluded. Anywhere else, you can use it through the Bing mobile app.

Not yet. A desktop version is planned for the Bing Create site and Copilot Search; for now it works only in the mobile app.
+Can I use the video I make commercially?
That depends on Microsoft's terms of service, and the content carries an AI label. Check the platform's current usage terms before any commercial use.
