How do you renew a Turkish driver's licence?
The full renewal path: medical report, biometric photo, e-Devlet appointment, fee payment and PTT delivery.

Get the medical report
Book a family physician appointment through MHRS and say you need a "medical report for a driver's licence". Depending on your licence class you may be referred to an authorised health facility. The report is usually filed electronically, but keep the printout you are given.
Have a biometric photo taken
Tell the photographer the photo is for a driver's licence so the framing and background match the official rules. The civil registry office asks for this photo during the appointment. Following the eyewear, headwear and background rules removes the risk of rejection.
Book the appointment on e-Devlet
Sign in to e-Devlet, search for "Sürücü Belgesi İşlemleri Randevusu" and open the service run by the General Directorate of Civil Registration and Nationality. Pick your provincial or district civil registry office, select "Yenileme" (renewal) as the transaction type, then confirm a day and time.
Pay the fee and valuable-paper charge
Pay through the "Sürücü Belgesi Harç Ödeme" step on e-Devlet, at a tax office, or at a partner bank. Select the correct licence class when paying; an amount paid under the wrong class causes trouble on the day of your appointment. Keep the receipt on your phone or printed.
Attend the appointment and give your data
Arrive at the civil registry office a little before your slot and take a queue number. After the officer checks your ID, medical report and payment receipt, they record your fingerprints, signature and photo. You hand over your old licence at this stage.
Track and receive the card
You are given a temporary document or application reference at the end of the transaction. Follow printing and shipping status through the driver's licence enquiry service on e-Devlet or the PTT parcel tracking screen. You will be asked to show ID when the card is delivered.

Watch out
Driving with an expired licence risks a traffic fine and having the vehicle impounded. Start the renewal before your current card expires, and do not show up without an appointment: most civil registry offices will not process the transaction and you will have to queue again.

+Do I have to take a driving test when renewing?
No. Renewing an existing licence is an exchange transaction, so no theory or road test is required. Only your medical fitness is verified through the report.
+Can a relative complete the renewal on my behalf?
No. Fingerprints, signature and photo are captured in person, so you must go to the civil registry office yourself. Applications made by power of attorney are not accepted.
+Is a report from my family physician enough?
For the car class a family physician report is usually sufficient. Depending on your licence class or health condition you may be referred to an authorised health facility, so confirm with your doctor.
+Can I drive until the new card arrives?
