How do you find out your baggage allowance?

Find the booking reference
Open the confirmation email you received when you bought the ticket and note the letter-number code labelled "Booking Reference", "PNR" or "Reservation Code". If you booked through an agency or travel site, the code that matters is the airline code on the e-ticket, not the agency's own reference. You will also need your surname spelled exactly as it appears on the ticket.
Open the e-ticket and read the baggage line
In the e-ticket PDF, look below the flight details for a line headed "Baggage", "Baggage Allowance" or "Free Baggage". Checked baggage is shown either as a weight or as a number of pieces, and cabin baggage usually sits on a separate line. If that line is empty or says "NIL", the ticket carries no checked baggage allowance.
Verify it on the airline's Manage My Flight page
Go to the airline's own website and open "My Bookings", "Manage My Flight" or "Check-in" from the top menu. Sign in with your booking reference and surname, then open the flight details; your current allowance appears under the passenger name in the "Baggage information" or "Buy extra baggage" area. If the site and the e-ticket disagree, the site record is the up-to-date one.
Check the fare class and its rules
On the same flight detail screen, tap the "Fare Rules" or "Ticket Conditions" link. Even within economy, bundles such as Basic, Light, Flex or EcoFly carry different allowances, and your entitlement is set by that bundle. If a loyalty tier or card promotion should add extra baggage but it is not shown, call the contact centre.
Ask separately about connecting and codeshare flights
If your ticket covers two different airlines, the allowance is usually set by the carrier operating the first leg, though exceptions exist. When the flight number carries an "operated by ..." note, confirm the allowance with that operating airline. In the same call, ask whether your bag will be tagged through to the final destination.
Open the mobile ticket in the app
Sign in to the airline app, go to the "My Flights" tab and tap the relevant flight; your allowance and any extra baggage you bought are listed together there. Once the mobile boarding pass is issued, the baggage detail appears on it too. Take a screenshot and keep it, so you have proof if there is a dispute at the airport.

Weigh the bag and check its dimensions
Weigh your suitcase at home before you leave, and compare it against the length, width and height limits published on the airline's site using a tape measure. Wheels and handles count towards the measurement, so borderline bags may not fit the sizer at the desk. If you are over, buying extra baggage online in advance is cheaper than paying at the airport.
