How can I track my new driving licence delivery in Turkey?

Once your licence card is printed it travels by PTT courier, and you can follow every stage yourself online.

Short answer

After your application at the population directorate is finalised, the card is printed by the state mint and handed to PTT for delivery. Use the "Driving Licence Inquiry" service on e-Devlet to see the document status, and PTT's "Shipment Tracking" page to see courier movements. Bring your ID card, and your old licence if you have one, when you collect it.

What you need

Your national ID number plus an e-Devlet password, mobile signature or e-signature
The application or delivery reference slip handed to you at the counter
A national ID card or identity document to show at handover

Step by step

01

Check your application details

Keep the application slip you received when you finished at the population directorate. The reference number and address printed on it are the basis for all later tracking. If the address is wrong, correcting it before the parcel leaves is by far the easiest option.

02

Query the document status on e-Devlet

Sign in at turkiye.gov.tr, type "Driving Licence" into the search box and open the inquiry service run by the General Directorate of Security. The screen shows whether the card has gone to printing and which delivery stage it has reached.

03

Find your PTT barcode number

When the card is handed to the courier, PTT usually texts you the barcode number. If no message arrives, use the "PTT Cargo Shipment Tracking" service on e-Devlet to list every parcel registered to your ID number.

04

Follow the movements on the PTT site

Enter the barcode in the "Shipment Tracking" field at ptt.gov.tr. The stages appear in order: accepted, departed transfer centre, out for delivery, and delivered. The same lookup works in the PTT mobile app.

05

Be home for delivery or collect it at the branch

Once the status reads out for delivery, try to be at the address. If nobody is there, the courier leaves a notice slip and holds the parcel at the linked PTT branch, where you can collect it with your ID.

06

Verify the card at handover

Check the name, surname, licence class and validity dates as soon as the card is in your hand. If this was a renewal, you may be required to surrender the old licence; ask the population directorate if you did not hand it in during the application.

07

Escalate a delay to the right office

If the tracking status has not changed for a long time, call the PTT contact centre with your barcode number. If the document still shows as being printed, the matter sits with the population directorate and the police, so contact the office where you applied.

Tips

If you have moved recently, make sure your registered address is up to date, because the parcel goes to the address on file at application time.
Give a phone number that is correct and belongs to you at the counter, otherwise the delivery text messages will never reach you.
If someone else has to collect the card, ask PTT about proxy collection rules in advance; a driving licence counts as an identity document, so the rules are strict.
Photograph your application slip with your phone so the barcode and reference number are always with you when you check the status.

Watch out

Do not lose your old licence before the new card is in your hand, and never drive on an expired document. Driving with an expired licence can be treated the same as driving without one and may lead to your vehicle being impounded.

Frequently asked questions

+Can I drive before the parcel arrives?

No. You cannot use the new licence until the printed card reaches you. If a temporary driving permit was issued during renewal, you may only drive within the limits written on that permit.

+What if I never received a PTT barcode number?

Use the PTT shipment tracking service on e-Devlet to list parcels registered to your ID number. If nothing shows up there either, the card has most likely not been handed to the courier yet.

+Can the parcel be returned before delivery?

Yes. If nobody is found at the address and the card is not collected within the branch holding period, the parcel can be returned to the issuing institution. You then have to contact the population directorate where you applied.

+Can I redirect the licence to another address?

Once the parcel has left, address changes depend on PTT's own rules and are not always possible. The safest approach is to give the correct address at application and, if needed, call the PTT contact centre with your barcode.

+What happens if there is a spelling mistake on the card?

If you spot an error at handover, do not use the card and go to the population directorate where you applied. The correction is handled by the institution as a reprint.
