How do you set up the e-Devlet Digital ID app on your phone?
Install the e-Devlet Kapisi app, scan your chipped ID card over NFC and activate Digital ID on your phone.

Short answer
Download the e-Devlet Kapisi app from the App Store or Google Play, sign in with your e-Devlet password, then open the Digital ID section from the menu. Turn on NFC, hold your new-type Turkish ID card against the back of the phone until it reads, and finish the face verification. Once approved, your digital ID is ready to use on the phone.
What you need
Step by step
Download the app from the official store
Open the App Store on iPhone or Google Play on Android and search for "e-Devlet Kapisi". Install only the listing published by the Presidency's Digital Transformation Office, since lookalike copies may harvest your identity data. Launch the app once installation finishes and review the permissions it asks for.
Sign in with your e-Devlet password
On the login screen enter your Turkish ID number and your e-Devlet password. If you do not have one, you can collect it in a sealed envelope from a PTT branch, or use the mobile signature, e-signature or internet banking options on the same screen. Confirm the verification code sent to your phone to complete the login.
Turn on NFC
On Android go to Settings > Connected devices > Connection preferences > NFC and switch it on. On iPhone NFC is always active, so nothing needs to be enabled. If your phone case is thick, removing it makes card reading much easier.
Open the Digital ID section
On the app home screen tap "Dijital Kimlik" in the bottom menu or among the shortcuts. On the screen that opens, choose "Create My Digital ID" or "Verify My ID". The app then guides you to the card reading step.
Scan your ID card
If prompted, type the Card Access Number (CAN) printed on the front of your card. Then hold the card flat against the back of the phone, close to the camera area, and keep it still until the read completes. If you get no beep or checkmark, shift the card slightly and try again.
Complete the face verification
The app runs a liveness check using the front camera. Place your face inside the on-screen frame, remove glasses and hats, stand in good light, and slowly turn your head if asked. When the check succeeds, your registration request is sent to the authority.
Approve device lock and permissions
In the final step the app asks for access using your fingerprint, face unlock or device PIN, so approve it and allow notifications. From then on the Digital ID screen requires authentication each time you open it, and your ID card is ready to use on the phone.
Tips
Watch out
Never give your e-Devlet password, ID card details or verification code to anyone who calls you asking for them, because official institutions do not request this information by phone. Also download the app only from the App Store or Google Play; APK files sent through links can steal your identity data.
Frequently asked questions
+Can I set up Digital ID on a phone without NFC?
No. Reading the chip in your ID card is mandatory, so the Digital ID creation step cannot be completed on a device without NFC support.
+Does the old paper ID booklet work?
No. Verification requires the chipped new-type Turkish ID card, so if you do not have one you need to book an appointment at a civil registry office and get it issued.
+Does Digital ID replace the physical ID card?
It can be used to prove your identity wherever it is accepted. Since not every institution or business accepts it yet, carrying the physical card is still the safer choice.
+The card will not read and I get an error, what should I do?
Remove the case, confirm NFC is on, and move the card slowly across the back of the phone to find the antenna spot. If it persists, close and reopen the app or try another device.
+If I lose my phone, can my digital ID be misused?
Access is protected because a fingerprint, face scan or PIN is required each time the screen opens. Still, as soon as you notice the loss, have your line suspended and change your e-Devlet password.
